It is strongly recommended that Travel insurance is taken out when travelling onboard cruise ships. Whether it be a short cruise to nowhere or an around the world voyage. There are many options to consider when taking out a policy and it is recommended that you take out a policy that suits you and your travelling companion’s requirements, including any pre-existing conditions.
Travel Insurance should cover a minimum of loss of deposit and other monies lost through cancellation.
Medical expenses whilst onboard the ship, as well as overseas can be surprisingly expensive and are NOT covered by Medicare nor any Private Health Cover. This is also the case for short domestic cruises even the 1-3 night cruise samplers.
Please Note: For Australian Coastal Cruises, Sampler Cruises, New Zealand or South Pacific cruises, please select "Indonesia and South West Pacific (South West Pacific Cruise)". To be covered for a cruise, please click "Yes" to cruise cover and pay an extra premium.
Please Note: Occasionally some destinations, or even cruise lines may insist on passengers having appropriate travel insurance cover before entry or boarding. For example, in November 2018 New Caledonian authorities advised that guests who do not hold travel insurance covering medical expenses and repatriation may be refused entry into New Caledonia. Cruises.com.au will endeavor to inform our clients of such restrictions when and if possible; however, we strongly advise all our clients to research their destination’s travel insurance requirements to ensure appropriate travel insurance is in place to avoid any disappointment or added expense.
Before you make any decisions about the product, you should read the Financial Services Guide/Product Disclosure Statement carefully to ensure that it is suitable for you.
